Wine vs Catnip
Today We reveal the truth behind the famous masterpiece: the painting “Bacchus” by Caravaggio.
If you are a human of some cat, you may notice that your master is not very happy if you occasionally drink a glass of good (in your opinion) wine. We, cats, find alcohol shocking in its smell. Of course we can just kindly tolerate human assistants when they entertain themselves with it.
So, can you imagine what a challenge it was for Us to sit for Caravaggio while he painted his famous Bacchus!
We played the role of a panther, Bacchus’ mascot.
We were so disturbed by the glass of wine in the hand of a human model pretending to be an ancient Greek god of alcoholic drinks.
Only a few leaves of catnip in Our paw saved our tender nose from this madness. We feel so sorry for Bacchus panthers, what a hell of job they got!
As much as three drops of heavenly valerian needed to save Us from sad thoughts about their destiny!
Now have a look at the commonly known version of the masterpiece in the Uffizi gallery
And where is the drama?
Everything is clear: the museum got a sketch by the great master, and not the finished painting!
