The Cat and the CATalogue

They say that cats are very egocentric beings and thus they are subject to vanity. The truth is far from it: it is not vanity; it is just right self-esteem. And of course we, cats like when others also estimate us rightly. We, Zarathustra the Cat were pleased to receive a catalogue where Our noble mission to improve famous paintings was appreciated as one of the best creations in the field of art and design in 2012 by “It’s nice that”. The famous master of Vanitas Still Life, the Dutch painter Edwaert (or Edward in English manner) Collier created a masterpiece to commemorate this notable event:

Эверт Кольер, Vanitas: Кот и кОтолог

Edwaert Collier, Vanitas: The Cat and the CATalogue. 1662

One can find the commonly known version of this painting in Rijksmuseum and understand Our wise idea that every still life painting aims to be visited by a cat:

Edwaert Collier, Vanitas: commonly known version

Famous master also created a self-portrait depicting his work over this painting:

Эверт Кольер, Автопортрет с Vanitas: Кот и кОтолог

Edwaert Collier, Self-Portrait with Vanitas: The Cat and the CATalogue

If you compare this version with a commonly known version of National Portrait Gallery in London, you will notice that in our version the sense of what is happening became clearer:

Edwaert Collier, Self-Portrait with Vanitas: commonly known version

Some ignoramuses think that We are just a LOLcat. They don’t notice Our subtle perfection, what a shame!
And We would like to ask these people: have your ever heard about Edwaert Collier before visiting this page? Have you ever seen commonly known versions of ALL paintings of this site? We bet no.
That is why We have another one reason for Vanitas: Our noble educational mission to improve mankind by cats.
And It’s nice that!
Thus spoke Zarathustra the Cat.

P.S. And if you visit this site, you will know much more about modern creativity. We advice having in mind Our educational mission.
